Rev. Becky Jo Messenbrink
Pastor Becky Jo grew up on the family farm in central Minnesota where she attended worship and Sunday school with multiple generations of relatives and church members who demonstrated God’s love for her. As a teen, she lived in the western suburbs of the Cities, growing in her faith with youth leaders who invested much in her during a time when God was calling her into the ordained ministry.
Pastor Becky Jo graduated from Iliff School of Theology in 1995. She has served as the Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church – Austin, and Lead Pastor at Peace United Methodist Church – Pipestone, and Homestead United Methodist Church – Rochester, before being appointed to Glendale United Methodist Church in the summer of 2013. The joy in serving those churches were in the work to revitalize youth missions, create a contemporary worship experience, add a Parish Nurse to the staff through a granting process, discerne a call to relocate the church (Homestead) and lead the church in the process of listening to God’s call, raising funds to buy property, selling the original facility, and living into the call to reach into the growing Northwest Rochester neighborhood.
Pastor Becky Jo is married to Rev. Chad Gilbertson (Lead Pastor at Holy Trinity United Methodist Church – Prior Lake). Together they live in Savage where they are raising a blended family of three teenage daughters and loving three adult sons. Pastor Becky Jo enjoys life! She is passionate about quilting, golfing, eating really good food, preparing wonderful meals at home with her husband, and seeing theater of any kind.
